Thoughts on the State of the Nation

Like many Americans, I was highly invested in the Presidential election for several reasons:

1. I believe the Obama Administration (including Obama, Biden, and AG Holder) need to be held accountable for "Fast and Furious," which resulted in the death of a Border Patrol agent.
2. I believe the Obama Administration (Obama, Biden and Secy Clinton) need to be held accountable for letting Americans die in Benghazi, and then lying to the country - and the world - about some filmmaker who just got a year in jail. Oh, and our Commander-in-Chief went to the UN to apologize for the Constitution.
3. I believe ObamaCare is unconstitutional, and must be repealed.
4. I believe history is repeating itself, as it often does when people don't learn from it.
  • The provisions of  the "Affordable Care Act" (ObamaCare) are eerily similar to Germany under Hitler. It's a slippery slope - once you decide unwanted babies aren't human and can thus be eliminated (even if they are already partially born), then it's not a far ideological leap to determine that disabled children and adults no longer have a "good quality" of life, and thereby should be gone. The elderly are a drain on the system...get rid of them too. And those with incurable illnesses - may as well sign the DNR form! Reminds me of some nefarious characters...Adolf Hitler, Adolf Eichmann, Josef Goebbels, Josef Mengele come to mind.
  • Texas has made the news lately regarding the secession petition they posted...and now several other states have joined in. Mr. President: "we the people" do not appreciate you and your administration goose-stepping all over the Constitution and then running it thru the shredder. "We the people" are tired of you ruling by executive order (when you don't get your way) and apologizing for our Constitution. And "we the people" are sick and tired of the Federal government usurping the power of the States. I recall something about States Rights being front and center of a debate (and eventual war) about 150 years ago...and the Constitution lost then too!
  • Recently, Rush Limbaugh has made reference to Obama as "Barakaclause." While I whole-heartedly agree with Rush's assessment that people have becomed conditioned to hand-outs, and, like Pavlov's dogs, they are going to keep coming back for their "treats," I think it's more sinister than that. Santa Clause is an all-around nice guy who gives gifts to children. Obama is a narcissist who only wants to give gifts to the Russians, the ChiComs, Hugo Chavez, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and the Muslim Brotherhood. He has set himself up as a great, unifying, progressive world leader, and is doing his best to keep "the folks" (as he likes to refer to us commoners), distracted with bread and circuses. All the while the barbarians are knocking at the door,  and we are welcoming them with open arms. (they don't even have to scale the wall!) Somehow, we the people are supposed to believe that Barack Hussein Obama holds our very lives in his hand, and it's all ok because "Barack Cares."  It reminds me of the gladiators of ancient Rome...after a fight, it was up to the emporer to decide if the gladiator would live or die. (Thus the mantra "Hail Caesar, we who are about to die salute you). Since Barack Cares, he would pardon everyone (unless you are unwanted, sick, disabled, old, etc), thus he should be worshipped as god. He'll kill millions while keeping the masses entertained, and by the time its over, it'll be too late. We will have destroyed ourselves from within.

The proverbial "line in the sand" has been drawn. Either the country wakes up, or its over. Either way, those who love God, liberty, and this country will be required to take a stand.

Time Flies

It's hard to believe that just a year ago I was released from Duke University Hospital after a week of battling septic shock from an infected PICC line.
There is not much I remember about the whole experience. I remember going to work to do some transcribing for a court case, joking with some of the majors, and then going into the office to get started. Everyone ranked captain or higher was going to be doing interviews for potential employees. About 15 minutes in, I was listening to this audio and for some reason my brain could not comprehend it. Nor could I get my fingers to start typing it. It was difficult to explain. A few seconds later, I started shaking uncontrollably. I'm usually cold, so this would be nothing unusual, except that even when I put my jacket on, I was still shaking. I tried to dial the dispatch office with my cellphone, as well as the landline, but I was shaking too hard to push any buttons. I tried to get up, but fell straight back into the chair. I remember praying, "God, please just help me get out of this room!" I don't know how, but I made it to the dispatch office. The telecommunicator on duty was an officer on light duty. He was also a paramedic. I woke up periodically in the ambulance, but I was still shaking so bad that they couldn't get a BP, EKG, or an IV started.  I have very few memories of the ER, but the few I remember were shaking so much they had to hold me down. The scariest came when I asked the ER doctor if I was going to die. She told me they were doing the best they could to save my life. I asked her if I would die before my mom got there in 7 hours. She gave me the same answer. I later found out I had a 40% chance of survival. I was in the ER for about 8 hours. They said they couldn't take me upstairs until my BP was above 70 systolic. There were several times I felt like I was on the outside looking in...or maybe the upside looking down would be more accurate. One of those times my BP was 40/28. They had 6 IV's they were pumping as hard and fast as they could. When my veins would burst, they'd start a new one. Finally around 8:30 pm, they took me to the Critical Care Unit. My Mom arrived about an hour later.
The pain was absolutely horrific, and I still couldn't stop shaking. My Mom layed in the hospital bed next to me to hold me when the shaking started. The only thing they could give me for pain was Tylenol.
It took 3 days on 2 high-powered anti-biotics and 1 anti-fungal before I started to improve. After a week, I was feeling much better, and walked out of there. (Actually I rode out in a wheel chair, but my point is still valid...lol). There were 5 separate "bugs" they pulled off my PICC line. Only one made it into my blood stream, thank God!
It's hard to believe that it's been a year since that happened. While the details are foggy, the goodness and mercy of God is not! I could've - and should've - died. But I thank Him everyday for sparing my life! I remember repeating Ps.23 over and over. I also remember hearing a minister say that "goodness" and "mercy" were like the sheep dogs that followed the herds of sheep. He was absolutely right!

Re-inventing Myself

Re-inventing myself is a lot harder than I ever imagined it to be! Yet, at 32, I have a chronic, incurable disease that includes, amongst other things, passing out due to extremely low blood pressure drops. That does not fit well with being a 911 call-taker/dispatcher. Although I fought it for a year and a half - I even came to work with IV fluids, a PICC line, a feeding tube, and sometimes all three or a combination of all three, by the middle of May, I'd had enough. More specifically, my body had had enough. Even though at that point I didn't have a diagnosis, I just couldn't do it anymore. After countless trips to Raleigh from Atlanta (7 hours one way) my Mom and I determined it would be best to get on short-term disability from work. As soon as that came thru, I moved back to the Atlanta area, this time in the north Georgia mountains. Even though a lot has changed - and I definitely miss North Carolina - I know I'm where I need to be right now.
So, back to the re-inventing part. All I have right now is time...and I'm pretty sure that's going to get old very quickly. I do have 6 books sitting on my nightstand that I could read, and plenty of cross stitch to keep me busy, probably for years. I'm thinking of doing a little writing, which will require some research. Fortunately, I enjoy research.
Other than that, I'm at a loss. I didn't realize how much I enjoyed working until I couldn't work anymore. Laying around watching TV got old very quickly!
I know that everything happens for a reason...sometimes I just wish I knew what that reason was! Of course, there are always the pluses - both my doctors are in Florida: Mayo JAX in Jacksonville (and very close to the beach), and the other in Pensacola (also near the beach and not far from some friends).

JAX Beach
Shalom and welcome to my little blog. I've tried blogging before, but got busy, and quickly forgot about it. Now all I have is time! I intend to post on a variety of things: history, life, and yes, politics.
I have lived many places throughout my life - up north, out west, and my personal favorite, the South! I also had the great privilege of living in Israel, the best place on Earth! I'm currently living in the North Georgia Mountains, and enjoying the crisp mountain air, even if it is a little bit cold. I also have 2 little Shih Tzus...Shiloh (Miss Personality) and Lilah (Miss Laid back).
